BODY

Whether from work-related tension or the stress of daily activities, our muscles are often clenched, knotted and stiff. This can in turn affect our physical and emotional well-being. Massage is performed to relieve stress and improve day-to-day performance by relaxing muscles, stimulating circulation and promoting a refreshed, rejuvenated mood. A trained therapist applies pressure to the tense area or areas using a variety of techniques from around the world, often supplemented with aromatic oils, moisturizers, exfoliants or heated stones. Commonly massaged areas include the face, scalp, shoulders, back, arms, legs, hands and feet. Massage can also be highly effective for the relief of pain associated with cancer, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraine, arthritis, pregnancy, athletic injury, and other medical conditions.

Our body treatments are tailored to each individual client and concentrates on their particular needs and concerns.  We invite you to arrive early for a cup of calming tea or enjoy a vitalizing herbal elixir as you prepare for a relaxing and beautiful experience of touch.  We encourage our clients to apply massage and body treatments for increased circulation, skin tone improvement, and muscle relaxation. All of our massages are done on a heated table along with soft music and are finished with a steam hot towel to remove excess oil.  Therapists may use one or a combination of several modalities depending on your needs, including Lypossage, Neuromuscular, Lymphatic, Pre/Post-Natal, and Deep Tissue massage.

Apothecary’s organic, custom-formulated body treatments are so popular because they are designed to be relaxing as well as restorative. They exfoliate, detoxify, nourish and hydrate, improving the tone and texture of the skin. Plan to take advantage of one or more at the beginning of each new season to keep your skin healthy and glowing. You will be modestly covered at all times during your treatment. Though not necessary, women may wear swimwear or undergarments if preferred. Men are asked to wear swimwear.

Spa Body Treatments take place in cozy, private spa suites equipped with your own personal shower, tension-melting heated tables, the softest cotton linens, and peaceful soothing music. We also provide a robe and sandals for your comfort.

Please see our Spa Menu for a detailed list of body treatments available at Apothecary. Combine a body treatment with a massage or facial for total enjoyment and maximum benefits.

Discover the benefits of massage therapy...

Physical - Massage therapy is designed to stretch and loosen muscles, improve blood flow and the movement of lymph throughout the body, facilitate the removal of metabolic wastes resulting from exercise or inactivity, and increase the flow of oxygen and nutrients to cells and tissue. In addition, massage stimulates the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, into the brain and nervous system.
Mental - Massage therapy provides a relaxed state of alertness, reduces mental stress and enhances the capacity for calm thinking and creativity.
Emotional - Massage therapy satisfies the need for caring and nurturing touch, creates a feeling of well-being and reduces anxiety levels.

Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty helps to flatten and shape the abdomen and waist by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles. The best candidates are in good physical condition with pockets of fat or loose skin that haven’t responded well to diet and exercise.  Older, slightly obese people whose skin has lost some of its elasticity can be helped. The procedure can also be useful for women with stretched skin and muscles from pregnancy.

Breast enhancement is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. It can give women with small or unevenly-sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better-proportioned look through the placement of implants in the breast. Women may elect to undergo breast augmentation for many different medical and aesthetic motivations, including balancing breast size and compensating for reduced breast mass after pregnancy or surgery. The procedure may be combined with others such as a breast lift for more satisfying results.

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed to return youthful shape and lift to breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity or simply the effects of aging and gravity. The procedure can also reduce areolar size (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), and it can be combined with breast augmentation for added volume and firmness.

Breast reduction surgery is usually done to provide relief from symptoms of pain, improper posture, rashes, breathing problems, skeletal deformities, and low self-esteem. The procedure removes fat and glandular tissue and tightens skin to produce smaller, lighter breasts that are in a healthier proportion to the rest of the body.

Breast Reconstruction - Modern surgical technology makes it possible to construct a natural-looking breast after mastectomy (breast removal) for cancer or other diseases.  The procedure is commonly begun and sometimes completed immediately following mastectomy, so that the patient wakes with a new breast mound.  Alternatively, reconstruction may begin years after mastectomy.  There are several ways to reconstruct the breast, both with and without implants; your surgeon(s) should work together with you in in deciding which is the best for you.  Breast reconstruction has not been proven to affect the recurrence of cancer or other diseases, chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
